“A truly modern city that proudly holds onto its Viking past….”
About Reykjavik
Where is Reykjavik? Reykjavik is situated on Iceland’s Southwest coast, and amazingly can boast to be the World’s most Northern city. It is of course Iceland’s capital city and the major centre of commerce and economics in the country.
Reykjavik has a charm, in part this is because of her size, a population of around 200,000 people gives us that local Icelandic village flavour, combined with a very trendy modern city feel. The top class restaurants and prestigious hotels are balanced off by some of the most breath taking visual treats in the world. Few places can really offer such a wide variety of stimulus for such a wide variety of people.
In Reykjavik you have a contrasting city that has seasons of the extreme. 22 hours of daylight in the summer turns into 4 hours during the winters and yet this hasn’t stopped Reykjavik becoming more and more popular as a super stylish Nordic party destination.
Reykjavik really is a city like no other and in Iceland you have a country with a close proximity to nature that is almost unrivaled. The dreamy picturesque volcano and mountain top landscapes, the many islands and the fresh Arctic Ocean air that cuts inside your lungs making you feel more alive with every breath.
With the Northern lights, volcanic baths, extreme snow bikes and whale watching…. Reykjavik offers the best of extreme sports with the most tranquil of leisure activities and really does complement the 1stopjamboree listings.
